Who shoots with this camera and how do you like it?

I bought one new in 2014 and loved it until it developed issues that required two trips to Nikon's repair shops, costing over half what I paid for the camera. I grew to distrust it, so I traded it in for a D7500, which I like even better (although it doesn't have the two card slots).

I loved my D7100. Shot all over the western US and sold it once I moved to full frame with the D810.

I shoot a 7100 and love it...and know it well enough to say that if the shot isn't good it's not the cameras fault.

Got a lot of use out of mine with several lenses and my wife won't let it go. Very pleased.

I have two that I love and use all the time - usually one with a 70-200 and the other with 24-70. GREAT camera.

I have one and am well pleased with it. I have made 10s of thousands images without any problems. I particularly like the internal level feature, which allows you to level the camera while looking through the viewfinder. You should be able to get a good price on one now, new or used.

Hi Donna,
Thanks for your input. I'm shooting with a Nikon D3100 right now I've had this camera about 5 years and have been wanting to upgrade. This camera is on sale for $696. I wanted the 7500 but it's over $1,200 and I can't see spending more money if there's not that much difference in the two.
Thanks!

I have been a Nikon user since the film days (Nikon F Photomic FTN) and entered the digital world in 2010 with a D5000. This past spring I decided to treat myself to an upgrade and, much too cheap to re-invest in FX format lenses, I stayed with crop sensor and bought the D7100 when it was on special. I bought it from Adorama and have used it since and love it. It is more intuitive than the D5000. But there are enough differences between the D7XXX cameras and the D5XXX's (and I assume between them and the D3XXXs) that I thought I'd actually read the manual. That was too daunting, so I bought the Kindle edition of Darrell Young's "Mastering the Nikon D7100" and keep in the Kindle app on my iPad and iPhone so I always have an READABLE reference with me. I have no regrets. If I had a lot more discretionary cash I'd probably look at the new D850 but I've only got one FX lens so I'd have to start all over, and also be sure I had a lot more storage space for files.

You're welcome dpardue. I should add that I started my Nikon adventure with the D5100 and added another D5100 and had both for about 5 years. Then I moved to D7100 and soon after had two of them. I did get a D750 that I loved but it was stolen 3 months after I got it and when I replaced that the D500 had come out so I had a quandry on my hands. My main issue was low light capacity but I also loved the extra focus capacity and extra reach of the D500 so I went with that. My first copy was defective so I returned. And now my second copy was acting up 3 months in so I sent it back to Nikon earlier this week. Fingers crossed that they get it right this time. Thank goodness I still have those D7100's though because my job has started up again big time - doing event and sport photography for the schools.

I will add to the accolades for the D 7100. It replaced a D 5000 and I haven't looked back. If you don't need a bigger buffer for bursts and such, then the 7100 is a fine choice. The 7200's have gotten cheaper since the 7500 came out but it isn't my intent to confuse you with more choices.

Put some decent glass on that camera and you will not be disappointed.

I have used the 7100 for several years. I have a friend who owns a restaurant where I post some of my better wild life photos for sale. If there is something wrong with the photo it is not the camera's fault. There are better cameras on the market but this fills all my needs and wants. BYW I use a tripod 90% of the time.

I own Nikon D7100 and love it. It was step up from my old camera and take great picture. I do miss not having the Wi-Fi and blue-tooth capability, but over all a great camera.
