Hi,
I finally was able to transfered all my iphoto library to an external HD. For awhile there I was not able to download my RAW photos secondary to my HD of my Mac desktop was completely full.
I have now solved that problem. yeeaahh.
Now I have another problem... when I try to download the RAW pictures from my CF via card reader to the external HD via Mac desktop it freezes after a short period of time. Since I moved all the iphoto library from my desktop to the external HD, I now have 256GB of available disk space on my desktop. This was the problem prior.
Any suggestions???

I don't work with RAW but that may be your problem..too big and takes too much time to transfer onto an external drive and RAW files may not be recognized.
Did you try uploading to your desktop? If you can do that, you can move them to the ext drive.

External Hard Drive and more memory
In " IPHOTO " , open iphoto > see if IPHOTO TRASH is highlighted , if so you may need to delete photos you've deleted . click on "empty iPhoto trash " , then go to trash bin and empty that . It may be that you've got the memory filled and its slowing your system down .
just a thought but worth a try . . . . .
Hi,
Thanks... that works. For some reason I was not able go directly to the externa HD. The next time I go to an Apple store I will ask them why that is.
HI, I have 3 TB of external HD and 8 GB of memory.
Thanks for the suggestion.

External hard drive, more memory and switch to a Windows PC! Sorry, couldn't resist that, after the hours and hours of frustrations working with Apple products.
Chinaman , I can actually understand your statement. It's just that apple does things in a different way - you just have to take your time, ask questions because its a new system to a pc person ( yes , me ) !
I now have an iMac set up with 3 external hard drives ! A 320 gb backup drive ,, a 500 gb Seagate seaagent hd for my pictures, music etc and because I joined a senior center and I take pictures for them I just added a 1 terabyte for there pictures so I can keep everything separate . I now ~ finally realize that it is a great system once you get to understand it. Just takes time.
