I think I over did the structure on these.. Freckles are a little to strong.

Well, they ARE better, but the real quality issue is you used the on-camera flash, thus guaranteeing a flat, harsh, unflattering light. Get that flash off the camera and THEN make a similar B&W conversion and see the dramatic difference.

My son had freckles when he was young. He hated them. They went away when he got older. That was a long time ago. He will be 60 in October. Its a wonder he dont get more, he plays golf about three times a week.

I've been looking at getting a real flash for my camera. Thanks for the critique, your the expert at this and I always do better when I apply your advice.

These last 2 are a great improvement from the first ones you posted. You can see some of the softness coming back into the hair and the skin is smoothing out quite nicely. Good job.
