I have to agree. I retired December 2015 and have played innumerable rounds of golf. In between I occasionally get out and take pics of birds or landscapes around the vicinity. It's something to do. It helps years later to recall that vacation the family took. Or that wedding or Christmas get-together. Someone said 'memories'. I agree.

I don't necessarily agree with you although your comment has merit, but I love that song!

T remember the scene or occasion and share it with friends and family. Some admire their skill in making such a beautiful image. (That would me me. )

God tried other things, but nothing filled the space as well.

For me I discovered it gives me great pleasure, by sharing what others may have forgotten or bring a smile , to show perfection in a imperfect world, Hopfully to make a difference, in bringing unity back, where division has grown! I'm definitely not a professional photographer, I'm just a work in progress!

I take pictures just for the pleasure of downloading on my pc and looking at them. I'm not an expert and still struggling to get out of the Auto mode.
They're a memory of places visited. Sometimes time passes and I look at them to remember the places. By the way Canon Lee I do apologise on behalf of certain people who are rude or sarcastic. If they don't like a question, they should ignore it. I read lots of posts here but rarely reply, in fear of anybody being rude and sarcastic. Grace

If you were five or six years old it would be easier for anyone of us to answer that question. But, at your older age, you're showing us your not beyond 5 or 6. Simplicity is the hardest accomplishment. Think about that when you view your photos.

You speak as a beginner, you're a picture taker not a picture maker. You don't seem to know what the difference is. Most take pictures because they do not know if they made a decisive moment keeper.

But, if you like the picture you took, that's what counts. You will learn more about pictures with experience that follows. It's more fun than anything else, The Creative Mind Has No End! AP

Photography is the same as golf, hunting, and fishing. In seek of that next great shot or catch.

I ask, simply because it seems to be a starter for another endless and pointless discussion. Every individual has their motives, or at least should have. If this is intended as a therapy discussion, then fair enough, some people enjoy, like or need therapy. However, there doesn't seem to be any other point to the discussion.

It seems like others like this post. But I guess nowadays if you don't like something you are supposed to complain about it instead of just moving on.

I don't have to explain and it is nobody's business. PP because I can and don't have to make excuses to the Luddites who are unable to learn a program

Hi Quinn I have for some time stopped replying to Peter. I learn a lot from novice/hobbiest. photographers. There are so many creative people taking pictures that don't do it for money but the love of expressing their creative urges.
