Could you give a link to where you found evidence that every camera shutter is tests 100,000 times. I have been unable to find that. I did find that every camera shutter is tested for speed, but could only find reference (and not at Leica) to spot checking for greater testing.

leica so states in their literature, and BAX, the german independent camera/lens institute verifies this also. i have no idea of any interweb link, as i've my information in writing from e leitz and bax.

My Canon F-1 had over 20 years on it--still worked as when it was brand new. But nowhere 100,000 clicks. Think about what 100,000 pics would have cost, just to buy and process, forget printing, as only a small percentage would have been printed.

Yep, I have no idea about my T90's shutter counts (1986 ish), but they work. Nor any idea about my AE-1 (1976), why is it so important to some people?

Quite right my man. We need proof and evidence forthwith!!!! This bounder could be telling us untruths and what a difference to our lives that would make huh.
Mark my words this is not an issue that will be forgotten or overlooked. The whole of the Hog membership are desperately waiting for further news on this life or death matter.

Just seem that running the shutter of every production camera 100,000 times might not be a good thing. Spot checking every 1,000 cameras in this way, maybe. Every camera would mean you are getting a camera with 100,000 shutter activations already on it.

It would be like Lamborghini test driving every car for 100,000 miles. Would you pay that price for a car with 100,000 miles?

Whats a Lambo got to do with cameras? Both machines and there the similarity ends. Strongly suggest you do not pour petrol into your camera and if you find out how to fit a spark plug in it be sure and let us know!
If a manufacturer decides to test every shutter with 100000 activation's they possibly know more about what is good for their product than you and I.
