10" mirror

Sorry to bother again, but I need more advise.

Adjusting screws on the mirror base plate are not affixed so I cannot align the mirror. I was in hopes of cutting the cork pads loose form the metal base plate to remove the mirror so I could get to the screws (counter sunk flat heads) and use loctite on them or if all else fails tack weld the head of the screw. I did after an excruciating period of time get the cork cut loose between the mirror and base plate, but the mirror is still some how affixed to the base plate. I cannot see any other points where it would be adhered to the plate, and I don't want to push my luck.

I've never used any sort of thread adhesive, and not really sure if it would work. I can back the screws out enough under the mirror to reach in and possibly get the adhesive onto the threads and re-secure them. I would hate to do this and then back the screw head into the mirror after all said and done.

I'm out of ideas and hope some one can steer me in the right direction. Mead won't help as they say the OTA is too old and no longer serviced.

Regards,
Ron

Whew! Glad you did!
Because your post was awfully vague to try and understand what you were facing.
Other than a 10" mirror.

I face a 36" mirror myself. But that's over the bathroom sink....

Whew! I'm glad you got it fixed. The suspense that I felt reading your post was awful. I could just imagine turning something or pushing some where and hearing "crack"... I'm happy for you.

The adjusting screws in the base plate for the primary mirror were loose. Could not complete alignment of the mirror. Turning the knob resulted in turning the screw, so zero adjustment, or in worse case, backing the head into the primary.
