I have been trying to figure out how to shoot the moon and still get the stars to show up in the picture. A friendly photographer advice me to try a composite. This picture is a composite of the stars in the background then the moon. I looked at the picture and I said still boring so I added the bird.
Nice work. Done in Photoshop with layers?
I used canon dpp. In layers, I was quite happy with the response as this is my first try and I am a purist for the most part and try to do very little in post and fix as much as I can in camera. Thank You all!
Great catch that would look great in a print
Thanks all, for your kind thoughts!
My only observation is about the stars on the surface of the moon. Maybe a healing brush would do the trick? Clever!
Have no idea what a healing brush is but thank you for your imput!
What program did you use to do this? Healing brush is a tool that one can use to click on and remove things like spots on the sensor, Sometimes, it can be used to get rid of things you don't like on a layer mask. I use it sometimes to get rid of utility wires that are in my shot. It was just a suggestion and not to be taken as a criticism.
Canon has a stamping tool in their dpp4 program. I think what i should
Do is use the stamping program to make it black where the moon is and that way I would not have stars bleeding through the other layers. Live and learn, never to late.

I think you are doing a fine job. It's all about trial and error, right?
Well hopefully more trial then error.
