Nalu, thanks for the wonderful comment. Yes, I have considered getting a housing for my camera, and I do have a small P&S waterproof camera BUT........recently I went through a shoulder replacement and couldn't hold up that kind of weight, so I will not be getting the housing. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Vinman, I was standing on the Huntington Beach pier looking down at the surfer. From that vantage point I can shoot either North or South from the pier depending upon the waves and the lighting. It's the very best location I have ever found to shoot surfers. NO, I did not get wet, I was to high standing on the pier! lol

Bumtree, you may or may not know that Kelly Slater (worlds best surfer) is from Coco Beach, FL. Of course now, he is all over the world catching the best waves and contests. Well, let me also add that he recently has been injured and is not in competitions now. As for my location of photographing the surfers, I was on the Huntington Beach Pier, not in the water or on a boat. I have found that the pier gives the best location for the best angles on the surfers. Thanks for your posting of this series Bumtree.
