After 37 years finally getting back into photography. Bought my first camera, a Nikkormat, in college because we were required to have a 35mm for projects, assignments and to record all of our studio work. Taught myself how to use the facility darkroom and PP due to financial despair. Caught on to some gigs taking photos for Frat/Sorority parties to help pay tuition. Now trying to remember everything I once knew, and learn everything that has changed.
Did some research and ordered a new camera while working on a project in remote Alaska. Probably not the smartest thing, but too much beauty here to resist finally getting back into it. While waiting came across this site and have been following the conversations and viewing some wonderful information and beautiful photos. After 3 weeks I finally received my new computer....errrrr....camera, and put it to use! And so the relearning process begins...
Note: I apologize for...
- that sunrise - it should be 1000x better!
- lack of exposure balance (need to learn learn learn!)
- posting incorrectly
- posting horrible amateur shots; lighting, composition, color, cropping, etc.
- having the "wrong" make/model camera/lens/filter - whether Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony, Olympus, Leica, Hasselblad, etc.
- not being a professional and not knowing everything there is to know about photography
- posting the wrong type file
- posting in the wrong category
- asking a question that has previously been asked, even if five (5) years ago
- commenting that I like a photograph of someone's, even if it is not perfect
- not having LR or PS yet, and not using PP yet...that is the next step
- not shooting RAW yet (there were issues with delivery and media cards received)
That said, my first photos, native from the new toy...
Welcome to the hog. Looks like a good start to me. I am sure you will get plenty of advice
No need to apologize. You are off to a good start.
Some conventional and some not so conventional compositions but they worked out in my opinion. Enough that I had to go on the internet to learn more about the location of your photo shoot.
Thanks for posting.
Very nice set, welcome to the forum.
Appreciate the warm welcome and all the comments and tips everyone. I hope to keep learning from all the photos y'all post and the discussions that ensue. Special thanks to those that pm'd PP touch ups as well. Time is money, so I'm grateful you spent your time to show me what I can do in the near future!

Thank you. I was somewhat pleased with a couple and upset with some others. Hoping to
Get another chance before I depart, depending on weather here.

Interesting comment. Could you please elaborate on conventional/unconventional? I'm
Intrigued by your viewpoint.
The best compliment at this point of my getting back into it, is that it piqued your interest in the location. Unfortunately my shots don't do it justice, it's a treasure trove of opportunity for landscapes, wildlife, oddities, deconstruction and more. Not to mention the locals!

Welcome.
Nice set of photos and interesting subjects. I'd suggest a little more brightness in most of them. More light would bring out the colors and add some detail to the backgrounds. You'll get different opinions on that by the way. I like to document and see everything while others are more artistic.
I'd also consider not having the subject be squared up in the middle of the shot.
