Went out to shoot a collection of motorcycles for a friend of a friend, got there set up my fancy assed equipment..... left my memory card in the reader looking at yesterdays conquests ( luckily had a $5 2meg chip in the bottom of my bag that saved my rep.) Next night caught the perfect photo-op for a humming bird (screen read "NO SD CARD INSERTED") yep back in the card reader again!!!!! I'm seriously lookin at these WI-FI cards are they worth it for the money. I' ve been at digital since about 1999 (1.5 megapixal olympus) and I'll bet there is still a reader with a SMART MEMORY CARD left in it!!!! got any suggestions?

My camera strap has a little velcro pouch that holds two cards, so I always have spares.

Sorry, I can't answer your question, so I will add one to that. Can an eye-fi card transfer from a Canon T2i or T4i to a Kindle Fire or Lenovo Ideapad A1 directly?

To be clear, you want to buy a $40 to $100 SD card because you cannot remember to remove yours from your card reader? You could always buy several regular cards and leave them in your bag as extras... Just saying.

Yes, if you need one, but you have to have access to open unsecured WiFi for it to work and a destination as I understand it. If you are in range of a an open unsecured WiFi network, then I guess you could have the images transferred from your camera to your laptop (which would also have to be on).

I'm not sure that would help you with forgettting your memory cards.
Seems like an extra chip or two in a pouch on your camera strap would be less error prone and will work anywhere your camera will.
This is also a good idea should a memory card fail (as they are want to do when most needed. They are decidedly shirt cousins of Murphy!)

Why would you ever close the camera door without a card in the camera? When I remove a card for any reason, I immediately insert my dedicated backup card which stays in until my regular card is ready to reinsert and reformat.

Never. I have never taken my memory card out and went out on a shoot and realized I didn't have it. Now one time I was checking my camera before I put it in the bag for the night after a download and realized it was still in the computer. I usually leave my camera near me even though the card is in the reader so I can remember that I need to take the card out and back in the camera to reformat.

Never go out without extra cards & batteries. My pouch holds 2 batteries and 2 cards. But I have 4 batteries & 6 cards - no real big ones 3- 512's - 2 - 1G & 2 - 2G.
I live & shoot mostly in the mountains miles from any place to buy cards or recharge batteries, all thou I have just bought a power inverter to & keep it in my car for the phone & camera batteries.
While living near Cancun there was a pro that came down to shoot on the beach near our house & yep 70 mi round trip for his card if I had not been watching the fun from my hammock - LOL - when I offered to loan him one of mine I had a friend for life - well the afternoon any how.
