Comments Welcome

I have been playing around with Lightroom. Did I improve my pics? (first pic is original, second is fiddled with) How could I make it better? Some things are obvious as I did correct my horizon but did I mess with them too much? Thanks in advance

Here's my take, remembering that personal taste is important, so you and I may like different things.

Set #1: Honestly, I like your original better. The contrast is better and the color is richer. Also, the sun is a little too blown out in the 2nd one.

Set #2: I like what you did with the sun and sky, again better contrast and richer color. The other thought I have is that I would leave the bushes on the right as cameos - I'd take the color out, it is kind of distracting from the sky. Where I'm conflicted is with the boat, I like what you did with the boat but is it distracting from the sky? I can't decide .....

Set #3: Good job - I like it! Maybe dial back the blue in the sky just a little.

Thank you so much! I was wondering if just because you "can" doesn't mean you should lol. I thought the second one was too dark and when I was fooling around with it, I kind of thought "cool" but maybe too far and I agree with you on the blue - toning it back would help. I do like the first one better especially the water.

If I may, I think the first two images were definitely improved by your editing. Of the last pair, I still favor the original.

I believe your editing works well in all the examples.

Nice work. There is always something to learn. Playing with the Highlights and Shadows sliders can work wonders. Also, you can lighten/darken the sky without changing what's below. There is no end to learning LR. Have fun! Every time I look at a picture I've processed, I find ways to make it look different.

Thank you Drip, I think I agree with you. The last one, the more I look at it, the less pleased I am - too unnaturally blue. Was going for more realistic but vibrant and I think I went a little too far.

Thanks jay, I had fun playing around with Lightroom (just got it and think it's a marvel!) but have a lot to learn - just being able to correct my horizon quickly was exciting ;)

Thanks Jerry - so true! I need to figure out how to do the partial changes - right now I have been changing the whole pic all at once. I need to learn to adjust my sun in the first one as gnawbone suggested and I think it will be just about how I want it

Thank you for looking ;) Just getting back to photography this year after many years of letting it go.
