HELP finding smallest, best camera.
Some of the Panasonics (same as Lumix) have a Leitz lens. They are ok. Otherwise, this brand is junk.
The size of the pocket answer is the best answer. You can control the size of the pocket. Also the Panasonic camera is a good one.

I have a friend who would like to find a 1)small(very pocketable)camera with a 2)substantial zoom range, and a 3)eye viewfinder. All 3 wants are important to him. He has been using (now very beat up from use) an older small Canon camera that easily fits into pants pocket. This request is out of my realm, so thought I'd ask here. I know your first suggestion would be to simply use his cell phone. But he really wants a camera camera if such a critter exists. So, does it? Thanks.
I have a Sony HX50v for when I don't want to lug around a DSLR.
I am a senior - and once a month our local senior community care have a dinner for us in a local church.
Here are two photo's - one showing some windows over a projector screen and one of them at full zoom. It was taken hand-held so it has good VR too.
[quote=flschaff]No View-Finder on the Lumix DC-ZS70 and the "tiny" Sensor size -- 1/2.3" (6.17 x 4.55 mm) -- as compared to a low-end dSLR of 23.6x15.7mm or even by Lumix ZS20 with 8.6x6.6 will give inferior image resolution.[/q
The ZS70 does have a viewfinder (EVF). A dslr is not germane to the OPs question.
I love my Panasonic Lumix ZS19 with X20 zoom

That's your opinion. Panasonic Lumix cameras in the TZ range have never had a "Leitz" lens but they all have a "Leica" lens as most of the Lumix range does.
Your statement stating "this brand is junk" is totally wthout any real validity when you can't even get basic facts correct.
In my opinion!
Great photos, just proves how good these little cameras are.
I have a older Canon also that is great for candid photos. I own several Pro digital cameras but use these for shots I deem necessary. I love the small Canon Camera for carrying it for family events photos.
This camera works for me...

I Have a Powershot SX-150 I Bought at Target in January 2013, it has a 28 to About a 340 or 50 Zoom & Other Features, & it Still Does Good For Me, The Zoom is One of the Features.

I have used a Panasonic point and shoot Lumix for a good while now... 18MP, 20 power, Leica lens... and have been very satisfied with the results. Their whole line of P&S Lumix cams are very diminutive, light and nicely-built workhorses. I would do an extensive internet search and use YouTube for information and tutorials concerning these fine imagemakers. Let us know what you find and your experiences with whatever you choose.

I too have a small Canon that fits in my pocket, that has a 10X zoom, and it has a surprising number of features and takes excellent pictures. Sorry I forget the model but it is likely discontinued by now although Best Buy has a number of pocket size Canon and Nikon cameras I am sure are as good or better than mine. I bought it maybe 10 years ago for my mother, and I got it back, inherited about 5 years ago. I used it exclusively up until I bought a Canon 70D, and now am using a 5D Mark IV. But I keep my little pocket size camera handy for when I am going somewhere I want memory photos of but am not shooting for artistic purposes.

Just use your cell phone or get the one that takes the best pictures. It's part of the phone, they are always with you and then zoom and are easy to use.
Look at the Panasonic with Leica lenses or the Sony with the Zeiss lenses. They are both very good.
