I am a Nikon shooter who is interested in feedback on those of you who use either the Newer Tamron 150-600 G2 lens or the Newer Sigma 150-600 Sport lens. I am familiar with the Nikon 200-400, but was hoping to get experienced input with regards to either the Tamron and the Sigma. Read on line reviews already, thank you, but need help from hoggers, PARTICULARLY WITH FOCUSING ON FAST MOVING BIRDS. Thanks
The Sigma Sport is still the best 600mm zoom out there, but the Tamron G2 does come in a close second.

I own the Sport, borrowed the G2 for a day and found it to be just as good, and maybe a little sharper at 400-500 mm. Could have been a particularly good sample.
I do love my Sport, btw.
I have the Tamron 150-600 G2 that I shoot on a D750 and am very satisfied with the results. I had a sigma 150-500 that I was never happy with, not sharp. I had a friend that was shooting a Nikon 200-500 on a D750 and we traded lenses one day and he thought the Tamron 150-600 focused faster than than his Nikon 200-500.

The best lens for your Nikon is the Nikon 200-500 f5.6 lens. I used to own the Nikon 200-400 and Nikon 300 2.8. My new Nikon 200-500 can compete very well with both of those lenses, that's why I sold both and now carry just the 200-500. Read the reviews, they are very good, and you get a 5 year warranty, yes, you get a longer warranty with the off brands but you will not get a better lens for the price.
I rented the G2, Sport, and Contemporary for one week each and then lugged them around attached to the camera for 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, and then made my decision. The Sport was too heavy, and since it was all metal, it got so hot in the San Diego sun that it was unusable. That left it between the G2 and the Contemporary. Wound up choosing the G2 and it's been everything I expected, and more.
Here's more detail on why I chose the G2:

How was the comparison at 500-600mm? Have you used the Nikon 200-500mm? Wondering how that compares for sharpness. I do want a super-zoom but not sure which one to put on my wish list!
Thanks.

Russell, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thanyou!!! Everything you said was very helpful for making a determination on one of these lenses, which all reviews seem to rate them so closely. I needed imput from one who actually used them and eventually pulled the trigger. Little details like using your left hand to support hand held shots and focusing with the G2 is so valuable to me. I am truly grateful. The purchasing info helps as well. As far as your remarks, with regards to the current POTUS (Trittier), well, let me just say that you are more kind than I can be. Many many thanks again for your time, and all the best to you and your endeavors.
