I was watching many types of fish swimming peacefully when a jet propelled Puffin flew down from the surface (these birds can swim FAST). The Puffin appeared to be looking for a particular fish but as I looked over my images, it appears that the Puffin was looking for a particular species of fish. The action takes place about 20 feet below the surface; lighting conditions are not good and at some point I didn't care. I found it interesting to look at the bubble trail of the Puffin to see where it was coming from. When flying, a Puffin looks like a football with wings; when swimming underwater they look like jet planes ... The last two photos show this difference.
Very interesting - thanks for posting.

I have only seen Puffins on land on two trips to the Maritime Provinces. Thank you so much for the lesson. I was spell-bound. Was hoping to see him take a fish home with him.
Wonderful series, thanks for posting.
