About sums it up really. I think part of the problem is that many, including Christians, read the Bible through 21st century eyes and not through the eyes of the author and the culture into which it is written.

Well, strictly speaking, for Christians, they do have their own issues with how to study or read the bible but as for non-christians, their problem is a heart problem, they are in rebellion against God and this is just one way it manifests itself.
I usually tell my attackers who claim that there is no God, if I am right and you are wrong, when we die you are screwed. If you are right and I am wrong you are still screwed. You are in a lose lose situation.
At least, they don't have worry about taking a jacket.

The problem with that is that you cannot be wrong. There is no "if I'm wrong" for you. You stand on God's authority. God is not a "bet" or even the "best bet"...he's the certain God who certainly exists.
If you haven't checked out the DVD or download video "How to answer the Fool" I'd highly encourage all Christians to watch it and study it.

Obviously, I am not wrong because there is God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. When I answer to an atheist I use things he can comprehend.
I had a man ask me once if I believed in the Trinity. I of course said "yes".
He then asked me if God was a schizophrenic. How could God be three things without being schizophrenic.
I ask if he had ever seen water. Yes he answered. I asked if he had ever seen ice. Once again "Yes." I asked if he had ever seen steam. "Yes"
I pointed out that all three were H2O. He then called me a smart ass.

Atheists comprehend just fine, they don't accept it, that's all. They are in rebellion to God and they all know that God exists because He has made it plain to them. I don't need to convince them that He exists, they already know that.
Check out that video...I think you'd like it.
Please remember that God doesn't exist because I or anyone else says he does.

Oh I certainly understand that :)
I have had people ask me if I had ever heard God.
I love that! I am amazed that God speaks to us in language that we can understand. If you are a fisherman, he speaks fisherman to you. I am not a fisherman so God speaks to me in cowboy language.
For example: The best horse trainer I have ever known or heard of was Jesus. He sent some of his boys into Jerusalem and told them to find a colt there. (If we look up colt in the Greek dictionary, we find that it is an unbroken horse or donkey. They brought it back to Jesus and he rode it the next day in a parade into Jerusalem with people cheering and throwing palm leaves.
I have trained horses professionally since I was 14. If you send me a colt on Friday and asked that I broke him so they could ride in a parade on Saturday, I would tell you you are crazy. Jesus did it.

It was a donkey or ass and had nothing to do with breaking a horse.
That word in the Greek means unbroken horse or donkey. They are broken to ride the same way. In this case it happened to be a donkey but it was not broke. He rode it into Jerusalem the next day amongst people noise and palm leaves. Do you have any idea what a feat that was?

There is an excellent book by Phil Yancy titled "The Bible Jesus Read" that addresses that very issue.

A simpler way is to ask them to prove how the world, and life came into existence without a creator who designed it.
If there is any mention of evolution - tell them to go back to the very first DNA and start there.
If they cannot explain how this complex structure came into existence on it's own, and even if it did, would not survive with nothing in existence to support it, they have no basis for claiming that there is no creator designer.
.
Ok, so I am wondering....
This seems to be a forum where christian want to post their images w/o having to feel under attack but the generic crowd present in UHH.
Why not leave them alone?
This should have been posted in the attic.
And no, I am not subscribed to this forum nor do I care about it.
Would you post something like this in the 'macro' section (Why don't you waste your time in a mountain range instead?") How about the 'underwater' (I think the desert offer more opportunities and I would not drown there.)
