Places to rent a camera

I have seen several of you mention renting camera equipment to try out before purchasing. My son is interested in the Nikon Coolpix P900. He would like to rent one for our trip to the NC mountains in September. Could any of you offer suggestions as to what companies to contact to rent a camera? (Also, welcome comments about this camera...pro and con. We have a Nikon D7000 with 18-200mm lens, currently. Not giving that up) Thank you!!

I've rented from Lensrentals.com. They rent cameras and lenses, along with certain peripheral items such as batteries and memory cards. Their service is extremely prompt, the products they rent are in flawless condition, and their customer service is first class. Their service is not cheap, but it is extremely reasonable when you compare it with the cost of buying an item that you just want to try for a short while.

Lensrentals.com is good.
You don't say where you or your son live, but here in Houston we have a local camera/lens rental place and I would be surprised if other large cities didn't also have them.

I've rented from LensRentals.com numerous times. They're very good. They clean every item when it comes back from being rented - even the sensors in digital cameras. They include a pre-paid return shipping label to make returns easy.

Thank you. We live in Jacksonville, Florida. Unfortunately, we don't have a camera store any more. It is a shame for a city as large as we are. Wolf was the last one and it closed a couple of years ago.

Borrowlenses.com is another good rental company. They also have a few pick-up locations around the country but none in Florida.

I've used both LensPro to Go and Borrow Lenses. Great experience with both. They deliver to you and the return is simply a matter of dropping off at FedEx. Lenses come week packed.

Sometimes, depending on how long you rent, the rental money you spend could go toward the purchase of the camera. If you do not like it after using it enough to know for sure, Sell it.
