But if you're just five days older than her you can get yours. Remember, if one person in the car has a Pass the whole car load is covered.

I've had mine for several years. I robbed the cradle....

I know that at one or two places they asked for our ID along with our card bit can't remember which park. I guess we don't look old enough yet. (We do.)

That's because some of us old folks share our cards!

I have three of them. Because I forgot mine twice when visiting Kilauea National Wildlife Sanctuary in Kauai. $10 a pop for my error wasn't bad, but $80.? Anyway now I can lose two of them and still be good.

Disabled veterans it is free or was free.

The Golden Access pass was free for anyone with a permanent disability. They are now using the new pass, but if anyone has a plastic Golden Access or Golden Age pass they are still good, as they are lifetime. If someone insists on converting Golden Access will be done for free, but there will be a fee for Golden Age.

Something anyone with a Golden Access should check out. I found out by accident that my home state, Delaware, accepts the Golden Access pass at our state parks.

Dang it!
I have it on my calendar to buy the pass on my 62nd.... a few days AFTER this deal ends. $80... still not too bad,

We have had ours since we were 62 - Best investment we ever made as "OLD FOLKS" . Have visited more National Parks than I can now remember. Don't miss this opportunity

The National Park Service runs on a shoe-string budget. They are always cash poor. Their budget was cut in half a couple of years ago on top of that. I've been retired and using a Golden Age/Senior pass for eleven years and always feel like I'm getting away with something when I use it. Frankly, it's about time they raised the price of the pass. If we seniors want the parks to be around for our grandchildren we have to stop looking for a bargain and be willing to support this incredible treasure.

I have a Senior pass, and when we go to Acadia, we drop the price of a weekly pass in the donation jar.

That's very nice. I'm sure they can use it.

For everyone out there who is 62 or older and want a "National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass" you better hurry up and get one. The price is going up from $10 to $80 this August 28th.
If those not familiar with the card, it is a 'lifetime pass' for all the National Parks. (It includes you and all those in your vehicle.) Check out the following website.

I bought one last year after I turned 62 at the Joshua Tree National Park.

They are upping the price right after my birthday, August 26! Oh, thanks. Is this part of the "Make America Affordable for Seniors Again" program? D*#n!

Mike...unless I'm reading your post wrong, you won't ever have to buy another pass since you bought one last year.

When and how did they start issuing Senior Passes, by mail? When I got mine at the Joshua Tree NP they were checking ID (drivers licenses) for birthdays. One clearly old fellow inline before me was denied until he went out to his car and came back with ID. And virtually warning that fraud over this was a crime and the card could be revoked (they did not actually say that but implied so when a few people around took the responsibilities lightly). NP rangers seem "really serious and no foolishness" to me. California SP personnel seem much more laid back and willing to negotiate issues, even if that is "I'll check with my supervisor and get back to you".

Of course, it only should ever cost me $10, I'm bitching for others. I do care how others are treated in life.
