I am brand new to this whole thing
And my budget for this is very low so
Instead of running the risk of offending any of you good people I will post like this !
I have a Nikon d3100 I think it has a f mount
I would be willing to pay up to 100.00 Canadian for a good used telscoptic lens.
And I would also be able to cover cost of shipping!
I already know chances are very slim
Of finding what I need for a 100 bucks but I figure it's worth a try

I will look into these sites, thank you but I will keep this post up in the mean time, you never know there may be somone out there, willing to part with an old lens.
Depends on whether you can work with manual focus and exposure. If yes, I have several inexpensive lenses you might like.

Thank you, I will be available again in a couple hours!! When I get home
I see the kit lens for Nikon's quite often on craigslist.
Usually unused and in perfect condition. 55-200mm af-s dx.
$75-100 usd.
UNDERSTAND that older Nikon lenses will not autofocus on your D3100. Don't buy a manual focus lens unless you clearly understand this issue.
To be clear: Your D3100 will only autofocus with Nikon AF-S lenses, because the focus motor is in those lenses and not in the camera body, as it is in other Nikon bodies. If you purchase older Nikon AF lenses, which don't have motors in the lens, you will have to use manual focus.

I did not know that about the d3100
Thank you Beowulf
But I am not turned off by having to use manual focus,
I am just starting out so, having to manual focus is ok I am in this to learn anyway, at least screwing up some frames won't cost me anything.

Jeeper, I would keep an eye out for a 55-200 as mentioned above. I would have sold mine at first because I didn't like it but now am really enjoying it! It is a very capable lens when you get used to it. You can check out some of my pics if you want as I am a beginner too and see if it is what you are looking for.

I definitely will, in couple months I will be looking for one It seems to have pretty good reach.
I have a MF lens being shipped on Monday now it will be fun to experiment with. I plan on getting into this alittle more but for now I will stick with used lenses.
Today $100 hardly buys you a hamburger. I do not mean there are no opportunities because they are there but not on good gear.
