Like your attempt. I think you need to recover more detail from the rose and shadow area on the right and perhaps add a bit of sharpening. Where exactly do you want the viewers eye to be first focused? The rose on the right or the folded lace in the upper center? You want to control how others will view your image. B&W can be very interesting and rewarding. Unfortunately it seems most folks here don't seem to understand or appreciate monochrome and its emphasis on line, shape and texture or the effect it has on mood, without the distraction of color. As a result don't be deterred by some of the comments you may get.
Very nice. I took a photography course last year and one of our assignments was to produce six shots of a white bed sheet. At first I thought 'what the ....?' but then realized it was all about studying light and shadow and texture and shapes and composition - ie about photography. A lot harder than it sounds.
