All my batteries are in my carry on camera bag in plastic cases for batteries. Never had a problem. Have a great trip. /George

Just a question. Is there a preferred state of charge for batteries on planes? In other words, should you bring batteries on the plane with (for instance) half a full charge then charge fully at your destination?

When I travel I normally put batteries into zip-lock baggies (I travel to jungle areas). So are you saying this is NOT the right thing to do? And if your phone isn't in your pocket, where do you put it? It has to be in some pocket somewhere.

you probably should carry them in your carry on bag they will ask you when you check in if there are any lithium ion batteries in your luggage. If so you will be told to remove them. carry on is ok from what I have been told I travel quite often and have not had a problem yet. Mike

Just returned from a trip to South Africa on Delta. Requirements were: 2 spare lithium ion batteries allowed per person. They needed to be separated in carry-on luggage by either having the contacts taped or placed in separate plastic bags. They are not allowed in checked luggage.

Are you saying that all smartphones have lithium ion batteries that should be able to breathe on the flight and should not be in your pockets or a purse? Have I just been lucky all these years with my phone in my pocket?

Do not put them with the checked luggage. If seen in the luggage X-rays, they will be confiscated. They must go with you or your carry-on.
