On my way north to attend the wedding of my niece, I spotted a sign for the St. Marks Lighthouse. I continued on my way after making a mental note to seek it out on my return trip. I had planned to spend the entire last day exploring on my way home.
As I traveled south I saw another sign - this one for the Cape St. George Lighthouse. Headed in that direction thinking one lighthouse is good, two is better. While visiting that lighthouse and its Visitor Center (aka overpriced souvenir shop), I happened across a pamphlet showing four light houses in the area and decided to try to visit as many as possible. Turns out that I had already passed one, so I had three to find and visit.
I also have included a flower (magnolia?) found at Cape St. George and a deer spotted at the entrance to St. Marks NWR.
Please use the download feature. Hope you enjoy.

The Crooked River lighthouse looks a lot like the Sanibel lighthouse, as the accompanying photo shows.

You are correct about the similar design. The Cape San Blas Lighthouse that I missed is also of a similar design, the biggest difference being the number of legs in the supporting structure.
Thank you very much for looking in and commenting.

Nice series, love the magnolia blossom too!
Very nice. It looks like Crooked River was built during a time of budget cuts. : )
Larry these are just beautiful. I love this set. Now I can see why my mother was so taken by the lighthouses of Florida. Nice job.

I like the flower, think it is quite beautiful what ever it is. In retrospect, I wish I had used some fill-flash when photographing it.

Thank you Jerry.
It is interesting how the design of the light houses varies. Crooked River is the newest of the group, built in 1895. Cape San Blas, which I did not see, is very similar and was built prior to the Civil War. I've seen nothing explaining the different styles. When I think of a lighthouse, what I envision is the brick construction such as St. Marks and Cape St. George but there certainly is a beauty in all of them.
I appreciate your looking in and your comments.

Thanks Doc. Your comments are very much appreciated.
I find lighthouses fascinating also, ever since seeing the Montauk Point Lighthouse as a child.
It was fun shooting something different for a change.
