I carry & use a Sony Cyber-shot, DSC-TX1 a lot and when hunting, I carry a spotting scope. I find there are adaptors to allow the use of the scope with most any camera. I would like input on the adviseability of the purchase of such a device. Can one expect high quality photos with a set-up such as this? Thank you.

I have never done this, but those who have told me the quality is compromised with the additional glass and limited image area. But it works and you can reach out there much cheaper than buying a telephoto. Just don't expect high quality as compared to a lens designed for the same distance.

take the eyepiece out insert a t ring for your camera type, you can even use it with a 2 x barlow the ring thread is the same size for 1.25 and 2 inch

It usually takes an adapter that screws onto the threads where the scopes protective eye cover screws on. Then a M42 adapter to which ever camera you are using. I have tried to use this set up with a Tasco and a Bausch & Lomb spotter scope. Both were unsatisfactory. If you need to take pictures of this type, you would be better off using a digital capture binocular.
