Finally quit raining long enough to get a few shot with the new Tamron 18-400mm using the 80D Canon. I have not done any micro adjustment yet but I think it may be necessary. I have noticed that it seems to hunt focus at the 400mm end but not by a lot but still enough to be out of focus when I press the shutter and my eyes are not good enough to tell when it's good. I use BBF and AI focus pretty much 100% of the time and only use a tripod for long exposures such as night shots. These were all handheld and not meant to be serious photos, just trying the new lens out. Not as sharp as the Canon lens but not bad for a light inexpensive and versatile lens.
I did use Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10 for color correction when needed and increase the image size so they will fill the screen as all were cropped quite a bit except the landscape, but it really does little to change the photo.
After looking at the downloaded images and double clicking maybe I should not have used the images that were up scaled from Microsoft Digital Image Pro. They are just too large and don't work well on this site and are way beyond 100%. They do work well on other sites just not here. I should have left them alone as in the last image. Sorry, I won't do that again.
They look pretty good to me on my tablet. Lovely colour on the butterflies.
Quite sharp photos. I think your Tamron will serve you well.

Thanks for the kind remark. Maybe it'll work a little better when I get used to it and get it dialed in.

Thank you suci. I'm used to using Canon's L glass and full frame camera but I think this is going to be a fun lens to use with my 80D when I don't want to haul the heavy gear around.
very nice and sharp lens looks good on the pics you took

These pics are really great! Makes me think about the 18-400~!!
They look just fine to me and wish that you could send some of those Gulf Fritillaries up our way!
The photos look good to me. I have the same lens but haven't been able to get out and really use it. I hope to be able to really test it out this weekend.
All great shots. I've been thinking about this lens. Already have the 16-300. Been wondering if it's worth the extra money.

Thanks ecar, it seems to be a pretty good lens for the price. I'll be keeping this one.
