Spiders are awesome creatures! Let them do their job and they will help rid you of those annoying buzzing insects you despise! What's a few webs? :) great shots!

Most likely a female Araneus gemma, also called "Jewel" orb weaver, because of their color when back-lighted by the sun.

Completely harmless to people, animals, & birds, but deadly to any winged insect that is snared in their webs. Female Araneus spiders can become quite large, moving higher into the tree branches, and living well into fall.

I agree that we should let spiders do their jobs. I never kill them in my house because they eat other bugs, spiders are nature's exterminator.

I read once that without spiders, insects would over run the earth. They are among some of the most predatory of God's creatures.

Nikonian, thanks for the name on that spider. I have seen them all my life but never knew the name.

It's her not him. Male spiders seldom reach the size of the females. The females are the aggressive ones and dangerous ones in the spider kingdom. Male spiders can and will bite, but their bite is usually not as bad as that from the female.

I stand corrected..HaHa....As you can tell I don't know much about spiders, other than staying away from them.
