Thank you for the complement, but by many measures we are not the greatest nation. I do not know which country would earn that title, but on the criteria of happiness, population health, quality and affordability of health care, crime rate, recidivism, longevity, employment, income equality, education, and so on, we rank behind several other countries.
Others will no doubt point out what makes us 'great', and I add that I will likely agree with those things (they will likely have to do with our military power, and our willingness to use it to the best of our abilities to help the oppressed). But I just wanted to bring up some areas in which we are behind. We should not be sitting on our laurels.
