I'm very late for the party, Corky, but I'm glad I found these! Each one is just beautiful, and I do so love these unusual vines! I remember the native kind that we called maypops that grew in the red dirt of my grandmother's property in central AL. We took them for granted, but they were really beautiful.
Thank you very much, Donna, and it seems to me that I'm always at least ten pages behind, especially at this time of the year with so many things to see and do! I intended to purchased one of the maypops online this spring because of what I'd read about their cold resistance, but seemed that all were out of stock at the sources that we checked. We found another variety locally and after seeing it's blooms ordered the second variety from Florida! One thing that we liked was that the passion flower is host to the beautiful Gulf Fritillary butterfly, which is shown as far north as the southeastern section of Virginia. We probably are at least fifty miles northwest of this, but if a few wander in our direction we wanted to make them feel at home and in the meantime enjoy those beautiful blooms. Thanks again and great to hear from you!
