I'm very late for the party, Corky, but I'm glad I found these! Each one is just beautiful, and I do so love these unusual vines! I remember the native kind that we called maypops that grew in the red dirt of my grandmother's property in central AL. We took them for granted, but they were really beautiful.

Thank you very much, Donna, and it seems to me that I'm always at least ten pages behind, especially at this time of the year with so many things to see and do! I intended to purchased one of the maypops online this spring because of what I'd read about their cold resistance, but seemed that all were out of stock at the sources that we checked. We found another variety locally and after seeing it's blooms ordered the second variety from Florida! One thing that we liked was that the passion flower is host to the beautiful Gulf Fritillary butterfly, which is shown as far north as the southeastern section of Virginia. We probably are at least fifty miles northwest of this, but if a few wander in our direction we wanted to make them feel at home and in the meantime enjoy those beautiful blooms. Thanks again and great to hear from you!

The plant for the first two images was purchased locally this spring and has been blooming for several months. The second was purchased at a later time from a nursery in Florida and you will be viewing it's first bloom, which opened today!

Thanks feather, and that plant just continues to bloom--a couple of days ago it had eleven blooms open at one time---- the younger plant seems to be going into a growth period and afraid by the time it puts on more blooms frost will be here! Thanks again and take care!

Thanks, Phil and think that the maypop variety would stand a good chance of surviving the winters in your location, especially if it has time to develop deep roots in the growing season and you cover it with mulch for the colder months. Take care!
