Using Corel Paint Shop ,why do I want Corel Aftershot ?

If you already use Paintshop Pro than you do not need Aftershot pro, Paintshop Pro is more in the lines of Photoshop while Aftershot pro has the function like Lightroom.

Thanks for asking! Whether you need PaintShop depends on your use case.
AfterShot Pro a RAW image processor, and so is oriented towards handling and manipulating large RAW files. PaintShop Pro is a more dedicated editing program, oriented towards fine editing of processed RAWs (such as with AfterShot!), or other image formats such as .png or .jpg files. If you are more interested in minor adjustments to your RAWs and preserving the format, that’s AfterShot. If you want to get crazy with your special effects and collages, that is more of PaintShop’s wheelhouse.

I have Corel Aftershot and Paintshop Pro Ultra X9. When I saw your question the thought that popped up was "because people have Lightroom." Sorry, that is not a rational answer, rather an emotional one. Most of my work is with JPEG and RAW is only where there is a problem with the JPEG.
Why JPEG, well as I told my friend in England, those little Orientals that Live in my camera make good decisions. They do much more that just compress the data and make those decisions quickly. I have learned for years to rely on my Topaz Suite and others to do many of the adjustments that "true photographer aficionado" do with RAW images; they enjoy the challenge, the work, at times the brag, perhaps the JPEG equivalent results earned the hard way.
I have Affinity now, and will, when time permits, switch to it thinking it to be superior to PSPro. People who have used peculators for years are slow to switch to coffee steamers, same applies to post processing programs; we hold onto that which we know like the back of our hand and work well like the palm.

[by Pyramid Digital Photo Cafe, episode 171 link below ] The expert team ended with the conclusion that Aftershot was superior in many ways, certainly outstanding in the speed of batch processing. At the end of the program, one expert said in spite of the results, he had use Lightroom for rears and reluctant to switch because he knows Lightroom well and he would have to unlearn and learn. Lazy, sure, human, sure is. Also a plus. Price is 40 upgrade for Aftershot... By this time some or all of the small complaints they had will have been cleared up.

I upgraded my PSP and the folks at Corel gave me a free copy of Aftershot, not the Pro version, but it's nice for quicker less detailed post processing.
I did download a beta version of Affinity but haven't yet played with it.
The most important and satisfying work I've ever done with PSP was a close friend of mine lost her granddaughter to illness at 7 years old and she wanted me to take one of the last photos of her in a ballerina costume and paste it in to a photo of her older brothers taken after the funeral.
Thank heavens and PP I was able to do such a little thing to help.
