Gave up scanning 120 and found a good resource.

Hi Folks, I have hundreds of black and white negs, color negs and transparencies on 120 film.
My Epson V700 scans were less than satisfactory although I will later revisit that with a Better Scanning film holder and a Vuescan.
In playing with it on a local Nikon dedicated film scanner, the scans were significantly superior to the Epson scans.
That said for a number of reasons I won't bore you with, I don't want to use that local rental scanner.
Enter Morey Milbradt. Morey is a professional photographer in Phoenix, Az and, as I discovered, now offers scanning services.
I have sent him about fifty 120 film pieces and he's done an excellent job scanning them on his Nikon 8000 using Vuescan software. He is methodical and pays great individual attention to the scans he does. He charges $6.00 for a 4000 dpi scan that nets about a 120mb file plus return shipping. So far, he only does 120 film and 35mm slides but if you have a 35mm neg, just buy some of those two piece Gepe plastic 35mm film holders and snap your precious negative in between for scanning.

So far work has been done quickly and returned expeditiously. Send to return has been in the ten day range at his current level of business activity.
Just thought I'd pass it on.
Here is a black and white neg he scanned. It's just a screen shot on a 120 meg file so don't put a caliper on it.
I made a mistake and shot a ton of stuff on Trix instead of finer grain film so now I have lots of authentic archaic grain in my images. Not thrilled about that. I'll let others get nostalgic about grain.

Don't know if this downsized pic will work.

Six bucks for 120 film. B&W, Color neg or transparency.
I guess I haven't asked on the 35mm slides yet. I didn't mention a different price for 35mm. I just asked if he could do 35mm. He doesn't do bare 35mm film but as I mentioned I got some GEPE 35mm slide holders and I'll be putting some 35mm color neg and BW neg in them.
I guess you can email him and ask.
Usually the bigger the file, the more they charge in other scan facilities. When I say $6.00. I got the largest file size a Nikon Scanner will produce. I don't know if he charges a different price for smaller files as I want the most information I could get.
