New camera setup and first picture

This isn't all that artistic but it's my first real capture using the K-3 and an adapted SMC Takumar 50mm F/1.4 lens. Just got the camera today and finally got around to getting it up and running. This is a rather inglorious capture of a cigar I was smoking in my garage (had to take a picture of something!). I got the focus with the aperture wide open then stopped it down all the way to F/16 and used the flash on the camera at about 1/2 power. I'm amazed at the sharpness and detail as well as the color and tonal rendition using this lens! These Asahi Takumar lenses are film era lenses sold back in the 1970's in Japan and require an adapter to mount to the camera body. It's all basically manual exposure and of course manual focusing. I currently have this lens and the SMC Takumar 135mm F/3.5. Looking to add the SMC Takumar 28mm F/2 or F/2.8 and a K-mount long telephoto lens for birding.

Good to see those old Pentax lenses in use again. I have a Takumar 105mm lens which I used on an older Pentax es. Was a fantastic lens and I still use it sometimes on my canon digital with a 42mm screw adapter. So that makes it just short of 160mm equivalent on my C sensor.
