My son and I flew his Phantom 3 Standard with his iphone 6 as his viewer , the phone was so small and had sun glair to the point we just watched the drone instead of the view from the drone.
Question , what different types of cell phones/tables do you folks use?
thanks

Hi Bill. This is a common problem. I have a P4 Pro+ now which comes with its own screen which is easy to see in the sun, but when I had my P3, I used an ipad Mini, & getting a clear picture on a sunny day was always a problem. I made a shade out of cardboard, which helped. My only advice is to make, or buy, a sunshade, & try to stand in the shade, if possible. Always try to position the screen to keep the direct sun off of it. Phones are generally worse than tablets in the sun--Can you try (maybe borrow one) a tablet? I have heard that Android tablets are better in the sun than Apple, but I can't vouch for this.
Earl.
Hi Dook
Since I asked this question I went on the Apple site and the iPad mini 4 is supposed to have an improved screen for viewing in sun light.
Maybe a trip to the Apple store for a look. Also , it is approved by DJI for the controller.
Thanks for the reply

I have the P3A and normally use my LG 8.3 tablet. I have the DJI Go and the Litchi app on that and my Samsung Galaxy S5. I have accidentally left the tablet at home and have resorted to the phone. Both are terrible monitors in bright sun. I normally park with the sun at my back and once I'm in the air I sit in the shaded cab of the truck. The problem is that sitting in the cab with the door open tends to get a sharp signal lose due to the metal surrounding me. I bought a shade and it helps a little. I normally try to fly near sunrise or sunset for two reasons. It's better lighting from a photographic standpoint and it's easier to see the view on the monitor. I'm considering getting some FatShark goggles if I can make them compatible. My brother is a guru with this stuff so I'll work with him on that. I think there will be a slight modification to the P3A needed.

My tablet is an Android device and pretty much useless in bright sunlight. I would love to see the P4P monitor you are using but I can't afford a trip to Australia right now.
Hi all-
Just a quick up date , went to Apple store yesterday and the ipad mini 4 looks OK but the ipad pro looks like the way to go. The pro model I was looking at is the next size up from the mini. It has a lot more features so it can be used when not on the drone. More $ of course. The size of the pro is 9.8" X 6.8" and is called the 10.5 (diagonal screen measurement).
This 'hobby' can become expensive quite quickly.

Just like photography. And golf. Have you priced the latest DSLRs?

Make sure that the larger ipad pro will fit in the holding bracket on the control unit.

A friend of mine made one for me out of the same material he uses to matte pictures with. He used tape and hot glue and then painted it flat black. It's less difficult to see, but better than without it. Standing in the shade is always the best thing to do if there is shade. I use a new iPad WiFi 9.7" model with 32GB. I didn't buy the more expensive model because I mostly use it to fly or read kindle books on.
