Had the same basic setup, only used two leads, ; one for each shoe. Works more like a set of shooting sticks for a rifle that way. Much more stable too. I used an eye bolt instead of a standard 1/4-20 bolt.

I did something similar. I bought a manfrotto brass 1/4"x3/8" adapter from amazon and a 3/8" x 2" bolt. This acts as a stabilizer in my hand. Too bad the adapter was the most expensive item. The length really makes it worthwhile as a stabilizer. I have some nerve damage that rears its ugly head at times.

I made this one to clip to a couple belt loops...... Could be extended to loop around feet.
