I remember and really liked the old California State Fair when it was at Broadway and Stockton Blvd in Sacramento. My brother and I were in the 4H back in the day and had a couple Shorthorn cows we showed at fairs in the area, the State Fair being one of them. Never could get into it when it became Cal Expo and didn't go very often.

I've lived in CA since high school and have only been to local county fairs. Although they have their own appeal, I'm sure the state fair is terrific no matter what the name. Since I like neither heat nor crowds, it's unlikely I'll ever go. The Sonoma Co. fair had a nice horse show I competed in a few times. That's as close to being involved with livestock at fairs as I came. Somehow I never got to participate in 4H but can understand the appeal.
