post processing photoshop...elements etc.
I want to learn how to post process my digital photos, histogram, color saturation, cropping etc.
I shoot with a Nikon D 7100 and multiple lenses for many years but never even tried computer post processing! Shoot wildlife, formula 1 racing and sports and some family photos.
Everyone talks about Photoshop and elements, but just found out it costs about $100.00/year for lots of bells and whistles that I will never use.
Is there a program for Apple desktop, one time price for just basic, simple post processing work?
Simplicity is "key"
I take hundreds of photos/year but would only post process about a dozen or so/year.

Macphun Luminar and/or Affinity Photo.
I use both, but mostly Luminar. You can use both as stand alone or as extensions to Photos for macOS.

I use a combination of Nikon Capture and PSE 15. Capture is a free down load PSE 15 is about 80-100 USD.
You can use the available simple and free photo editing tools like Pixlr and SnapSeed. As you just need to do basic adjustment of color then it would not be so difficult task to do using these photo editors.
PhotoshopCC and LRCC are as simple as you can get if you choose to be simple. On the other hand, they are the best post processing software programs in the world if you care to explore and expand your skills. $10.00 a month is a bargain.

If you want quick, easy, and no cost use the Apple Photos program that comes with your Mac. It allows you to categorize the pictures, crop, adjust exposure, light, color, definition and more. I recently tried Affinity - a bit of a learning curve and doesn't do some things that Photos does (i.e. categorize, non-destructively crop). Try it first and then if you need more PP power, check out Affinity and Lightroom.
The Photos app on your Mac lets you post-process to a minor degree. MacPhun products are very good and there are lots of videos that teach you how to use them. Have fun!
check out Phocus. It's free and works on Apple.

Get lightroom 6 form B & H for $142.95. You own it, no extortion fees.
Start out with Picassa, which you can still find free online, and when you have mastered this simple program then decide what more you need. There are many excellent programs available. Elements does most everything that Photoshop does and is cheap and version 15 is very easy to use.
Good luck.
For years.. no post processing. Now you don't like your pictures.
The essence of post processing (learning) is to screw up your pictures for a year so, before you see better pictures than you have for some time.
It's only a good deal if you are unhappy with your images and you want to restrict your taking pictures somewhat while you are in the learning curve of PP.
I was enamored of the graphic artist component of post processing until I realized how much real photography time it was costing me. I Post processed with Photoshop and elements for about six years from Photoshop 4 to Photoshop CS2. Five years ago... about then... I dumped all that crap and went back to pre-processing images in the camera and doing Jpeg and TIFF SOOC!!!
You may want to know I have consulted and configured computers for the last 25 years in business and home. Post processing simply increased needless time at the computer.

Yes. Several. But my favorite is Affinity Photo. 30 day free trial. Youtube video with basic instruction in about 10-15 minutes. More advanced videos as you get more interested. $50 when, not if, you decide you like it and want to own it. And if you decide to get deeper into it, AP will take you as deep as you want. I run it on Windows, but it was originally developed and available on Mac.
