this has a lot of potential, but the harsh lighting didn't do you any favors. try shooting this scene on a cloudy day, or at a time of day when the sun isn't on the water. use a slow shutter, between 1/2 and 1 second, to produce that nice, soft blur in the water that implies motion. looks like a good spot for photos, though!

angelwings, looks like yours suffer from the same problem, harsh lighting. try again on an overcast day, or in the early morning or evening... you'll need a tripod, of course, but i think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Between the townsite of Tomichi, and the historic Tomichi Cemetery, this little side creek crosses the road. This view shows the shallow Spring Creek ford, and the two small waterfalls above the road.

Nikon D5000 at ISO 100, Nikkor 18-55 zoom lens at 55-mm, 0.6-sec at f/36, overcast sky. Not HDR and no ND nor CPF.

Yes, the small water flow that empties into the main pond near the rear. Close to the bamboo area.

I know the location. Not too far from the Narrow-leaf milkweed where the Monarch caterpillars graze.

Waterfalls on the Big Sioux River, Sioux Falls, SD. With the extreme dry weather this year, the river is quite low.
