I was on a walk when I saw the mountain behind which is a raging forest fire, the "Lolo Peak" fire. I had my Twist 60 in the Composer Pro, which is basically a portrait lens, and I was out doing flower portraits (lol!), so decided to go for it and take a picture of the smoke and clouds. I felt that, if I ran home and picked up a "proper" lens, I would miss the moment. This picture is the result. It's interesting that this optic is good for more that what I thought was the case.
I find it interesting that, of all the pictures I took with the Twist on that late afternoon, this is the only one worth looking at. lol! I did grab another camera and went back out, but the moment was past because the peak became enveloped in the smoke and essentially disappeared.
I would estimate that the peak is about 15 miles away.
I posted this into the Photo Gallery yesterday, but it wasn't put in the digest.
I've been looking at images with this lens and at first I wasn't interested, but the more I see, the more I like!! This shot does show the smoke in the distance and I do hope you're still not seeing or feeling the effects of it, but I hope you also post your flower portraits that you used this lens on!!
Cathy, you need to stop tempting me!!!!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

It's been smoky all day. Here's a picture I took this morning at around 8 am. It's looking east. The closest hill in the picture is only about one mile away. This was taken with my Lumix FZ-1000.
The haze is a little thicker in the picture than it appeared to my eye. The smell of smoke has been strong all day.

So sorry about the smoke and haze, but what a beautiful view!!!! Everything on LI is flat and I'd love to have views like that!! I hope that fire is contained and almost out!
It's just as cool the second time around, Cathy. Great details in the sky, and I love the blur of the building below. The mountains are beautiful in the background.
I hope the fire gets put out soon because of all the destruction it causes. Stay safe.

Thank you so much for commenting, Jane! That fire doubled in size yesterday, and there probably will be some evacuations soon. The last I read was that it's only 5% contained, but there are some helicopters dropping water on it. Doesn't sound promising, does it?

Nope, not happening. It doubled in size yesterday. We're having consistent high temperature, low humidity weather which works against the firefighters.

Thank you for the lovely comment, Jane! In a nutshell, it doesn't look good right now. Fortunately, Missoula is quite a ways away from the fire.

OMG.... that's horrible!!! Sending prayers and positive thoughts that you get lots of rain and it helps with this fire... and I hope and pray those firefighters stay safe!!!
