I am nearly 100! I always sang to the people as they passed over me. I remember people trying to be first to the middle and teens climbing me dive into the water below. Then 20 years ago they built this lifeless slab to replace me. It doesn't sing but no one has to take turns. The highway department doesn't want me and the preservation society doesn't know what to do with me. I thought I was forgotten. Then today a man stopped by. I remember him as a child listening to my song. And as a teen driving his car at different speeds to hear all my tunes. He took some pictures then just stood and looked at me! I swear there was a tear in his eye as he drove away.

Time does move on. But the memories of the past and nostalgia for the old still linger. But do we want to regress an go back in time. At plus eighty I would say no, but in memories yes as they were our past and brought us to where now are.

Past memories are good. They should encourage us to create good memories now.

Poetic, Jim. I have experienced similar feelings at a bridge near me, but, happily, it was saved.

Very sad how time waits for no one, but your beautiful memories are a way of going along for the ride, your great photo and thoughts is a wonderful way to freeze that moment! Great stuff!
