Well, duh....a good portrait photographer strives to capture something about the subject - otherwise one ends up with a DMV photo. It's not unlike a caricature artist - if this same "decoy" went to 6 caricaturists and told each of them a different backstory, do you think they would all draw the same thing?
It shows the photographers have some creativity, what would it have said
if they all ended up with the same style photo.
What it showed was the photographers were more interested in the story they were told than asking questions of the subject questions about his personality. What he likes to do in life, his family, his hobbies, etc.. The questions they asked him were based on this made up story. In reality, they knew nothing about him.

Good to see these points of view. It really does illustrate that it is photographer who creates the image, not the equipment and not really the subject!
