When shooting this bird at the Orlando Wetlands Park, I thought it was a Great Blue Heron. When I got it on the computer, I suspect it is not. I have not cropped it at all. I tend to like the composition right out of the camera. Open to your ideas. Taken with Canon 6D with Sigma 150 - 500mm, shot at 500mm. ISO 100, 1/500 sec, f/8. Thanks for any comments.

Almost 100% sure it is a Great Blue Heron.

Crop the left side leave some of tree on left or take out all together.

Try cropping it into a square photo, that way you should be able to get it slightly enlarged without losing the two key elements. I like using 10x10 as a final size.

It is a Great Blue Heron as previously stated above.

There is good detail in the download, I feel the large
tree trunk to the left of the bird is very distracting.

I would clone it out, a relatively easy task.
Just my thoughts though.

Not at all sure this is a GBH. I didn't d/l the photo and it is not easy to see the details from the UHH post, but it may very well be a tri-color heron. Do you have any photos of the bird showing its belly? If the belly is white, it is more likely a tri-color than a GBH.

It is definitely a great blue heron, though it could be a juvenile as the colors are fairly dilute. I like the composition. You may want to consider trimming the edges to tighten up the shot, but otherwise, it is fine the way it is.

Removing the left side tree will make the shot less unique. There is a graphical, high key quirkiness to this image that makes it hugely original and fascinating IMO. The lines, pops of color, all that white - I'd leave it just as is. A wonderful image that would make a fantastic poster in a sunroom (Florida room? ).

And my vote is great blue heron.

I would take out the tree on the left. Also it's probably just jewelry but I find the white too white. I'd be interrested to know what others think.

You should never crop a bird, it makes it hard for them to fly.

As for the picture I would crop enough from the left to get rid of all the white space that is to the left of the tree. The portion of the tree that is still there will act as a framing element keeping the viewer's eye from drifting out of the image. This will focus more attention on the GBH.

I like the shot. I would crop it using the tree on the left as part of the frame, cut it down so it is mostly gone. Don't know the bird. Looks like a Heron of some kind.

It's an imperishable rule of life: "Crop the Left. Always crop the left...NEVER crop ANYTHING on the RIGHT! Never touch ANYTHING on the RIGHT. RIGHT is always RIGHT!
(Is it possible that dirtpusher is finally getting something RIGHT, for a change?)
