As many of you know I just purchased an EOS 6DII. It came with battery LP-E6N.
Will my LP-E6 battery from a previous system work with the new 6DII? I noted the old battery outputs 1800 mAh while the new one outputs 1865 mAh. Both provide 7.2V. Is it safe to use the old battery in my new system? I have tried using the email portal to Canon "help" and it does not let me send the above message when I hit "send." Last thing I want to do is screw up my brand new instrument.
Thanks

Once again the Hogs, specifically YOU, have come through. I am pleased as my wife has placed me on a austerity budget post camera purchase. I typically went through two or three battery changes per day in my 10D so I was not wishing to be out of power on a heavy shooting day. Thanks for the article!
Best,
Tom
LPE6 and 3rd party LPE6 versions ( both Vivitar, Wasabi in my case) all work on my 5DMarkIV.
3rd party Not guaranteed by Canon and if one goes bad and hurts your camera, canin may not cover the warranty.
...have not heard of that ever happening but I am sure someone out there has experienced it...

Yup, they interchange. Tells you that right on the Canon site.
If the old battery fits the opening and the pin contacts are the same, then it should be safe to use the old battery. The critical number is the voltage. The milliamphours being a tad smalker just means you'll have to recharge sooner, but not by much.

Yes. I use both in my 6D and my 5D mk4. At worst you might get a few less shots before you have to change batteries. The only difference is one has 65 mAH less that is milliAmpHours.
