Nikon D90 max ISO, with no Noise

Will taking a trip to Italy and would like to know what the max ISO I can use with no noise on the D-90.
Expecting to be shooting a lot indoors with No tri-pod maybe uni-pod.

Eeek! With your "No noise" qualification, are you going to use flash? Otherwise, good luck- Try to stay below 4 digits of ISO

I sold my D90 awhile back, but used it heavily for 2 years. At ISO 1600 the noise was more than noticeable. It was great up to ISO 800 but anything beyond that the noise will start to show, first in the black or dark areas, then at 1600 it will be seen in the lighter areas too. 1600 on the D90 is comparable to ISO 6400 on the D7000 for noise. The difference was amazing between these 2 bodies.

Keep in mind that noise is caused more by under exposure than by high ISO. As a result it is better to increase ISO than to think you can just underexpose and fix later in PP . . . not!
Also keep in mind that because it looks good in the camera's LCD does not mean that it will be even acceptable on the computer.
Indoors with no flash and NO noise is asking the impossible. How about an "acceptable" noise level.

How about a faster lens? Learn to live with a 35, 5o or 85 combination at least for your trip. Or a 2.8 zoom, $$$

Have a 17-55 f2.8as well as 70-200mm f2.8 as well as some fast wide angle.
