Reckin' so. We had a wicked good family reunion, and a very relaxing vacation. My in-laws buy/sell lobsters and provide services (bait and fuel) to the lobstermen, so we get an insight into how the system works - and how these folks work.

Thanks, Jerry. Marshall Dodge was the great downeast comic who developed the "Bert and I" theme. The current ones are OK, but not really as good. So much of the dry downeast humor just has to be told with the downeast accent with appropriate expletives thrown in. Not vulgar, but usually things like "And jeeesus, let me tell you...... he stuck his hand into that trap, and that bobcat latched onto him like a lobstah on bait". (This from a story I was recently told).
Stephen King does a pretty good job of this in his books.
I did pick up a new term on this trip. "Dubbah" Means doing nothing of importance, or being incapable of doing anything of importance. In use: "He is one dubbah, let me tell you". Or - "not doing much - just dubbin around". Sometimes a dubbah is not only lazy but not too bright - you know, "numb as a hake".

Thanks. Yes - a great place and generally good folks. Not without some problems like any poor rural area. Opiate abuse and overdose deaths are a huge tragic problem. For folks who don't have work it is a hard place to live.

We flew to Boston last year and did a tour of New Hampshire, New England, Maine, Bar Harbor and other places in between. Had a great time, beautiful parts of the country forever etched in our minds, also met up with Treepusher.
