I live near the Smoky Mountains. No where near any costal area. For some reason this Rosetta Spoonbill shows up here at my friends pond. Needless to say I am taking advantage. I like this one because of the hitchhiker.
Be kind folks. This is my first post.

They are wetland birds. We simply do not have them this far inland.
Thanks!

Finding this bird so far inland is really not normal. So far it has been here 3 weeks.

Very good shot! Could have been the crazy storms this past week. He was smart enough to avoid being electrocuted!

Excellent download, and what a great first post! This should be a lesson to all of us to stay alert, because you never know what might turn up! I'm on the Chickahominy river, which is a tributary on the James River which flows into the lower Chesapeake Bay and am about 15-20 miles from Williamsburg, Virginia and about 15 years ago I could hardly believe my eyes when a seal hauled up on our pier and stayed around for at least several months.

Thank you! I wish the dragonfly had been a bit sharper but I only had a second to get that shot. I have much to learn about how to use my camera.
