Every year Gunnison has Cattlemen's Days with rodeo and of course a parade. Here's a few quick shots.

Very nice series and all well done! No. 5 is remarkable; I think this is the first time I've seen anyone riding a bull when the animal wasn't trying its best to get rid of the 'pest' on its back!

Wonderful parade and rodeo photos!
Lots of celebration this time of year in Colorado, in July 1989 I was in Delta visiting friends and made the Deltarado Days Rodeo, it was a fun event for the locals and all guess fortunate enough to attend!

I am a city boy, having grown up in Brooklyn NY, and had little appreciation for rodeos until I lived in Montana for 11 years and opened my mind to their way of life. From childhood, these young people dedicate themselves earnestly and strenuously to all aspects of showing and participation. And working around animals was enlivening; a friend has a very large ranch on the Missouri, raised pigs, cattle and some very large thoroughbred horses, not the Clydesdales, and delighted in getting me "dirty." I tried to learn to ride a horse but it kept brushing against the corral in an attempt to get me off. I stuck to hiking and biking in the mountains.

Great color; they capture the pride of the wearers. Well done. Matt

Me too!!!!! I saw this before the parade started and thought this can't be. But, there he was in the parade. I never did hear the story, but was told SHE probably raised the bull from infancy and she was with the Future Farmers of America Float. Anyway it was a "hoot" to see. Thanks for visiting.

Yes, lots going on this time of year. I know of three rodeos going on all over the state at the same time. Here, it's definitely a home town crowd. Great fun. Thanks for viewing.

Thanks for visiting, Matt, and glad you enjoyed these. I know what you mean about a horse trying his best to knock you off. I was on a trail ride up into the mountains to take some pictures. Well, it was all I could do to keep that horse from stopping to eat flowers and going as close to trees as he could. He knew he had a novice on his back. What a trip that was!! Beautiful country though, so I guess it was worth it. I'll stick to hiking and biking too!
