Lensbaby Velvet 56
ISO 1600
f/1.6
1/160 sec
Snick comes rolling in from outdoors just in time to make sure I am up at 5 most mornings. As soon as I get up, she snuggles in for a nap before our hike. This morning the light coming through the blinds made me run down and get my camera out of the car.
Beautiful shot, Sandra! I love seeing Snick's cute little face in the sunlight. The light is showing off her whiskers so nicely. I don't think I've had my Velvet opened more than 2.8. You've encouraged me to go the extra distance and try it at 1.6. Wonderful shot of a peaceful kitty!

Beautiful image, Sandra and caught at the perfect time!!! Love the sunlight dancing on his adorable face and whiskers, so dreamy as he dreams!!!
Timing and lighting is key!!
I don't own the Velvet 56 yet, but seeing what it can do makes me want Santa to come early!!

Sandra this is lovely. You have fully captured the softness of the morning and the moment. Made me want to snuggle with Kitty and dream along with him. Did not realize the velvet would show this much focus at this setting. How close do you normally shoot with this lens? Are you able with your camera to change the ISO? Thanks for suggestions always.
This is a manual aperture lens. I am trying to remember now, CSand. It is a very thin plain of focus at that aperture and I know I was using it at that aperture that morning as I took several shots of kitty. This photo is not cropped, however. So now I am wondering if I went to F/2 or F/2.8 for this one. I did have that ISO 1600. The trouble is that the aperture doesn't show up in my EXIF and I have a middle aged memory. I will shoot kitty again at the same distance with both and see what I come up with. Maybe I can figure out if I made a mistake or not.

Please don't worry about retaking. I am just trying to learn all the tips I can. There was one time I wanted to change the ISO and couldn't of course. Was hoping for a way to do so as lens doesn't really function with my camera. I appreciate you offering to redo. Bless your middle aged memory. I am working at the end of the spectrum so I fully understand. Good news is, the best is yet to come!!
Peaceful kitty, and I love the mood of this shot with the light filtered by the blinds.
