I concur. I use a full frame 24-70mm on a d7100 giving me a 36-105mm
focal range. Excellent results. I love it as a walk around...and just a great all around lens. Very versatile...

Agree. I stay away from superzoom lenses. The engineers have to compromise too much in the design to achieve the long zoom range. They usually have a lot of barrel distortion at wide angle settings and a lot of pincushion distortion at long focal lengths. Chromatic aberration can be an issue also. Take a look at the Nikon 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. It's sharp, has excellent build quality, and has one-half the distortion of Nikon's superzoom lenses.

Looking for a decent walk around lens for my Nikon D7100. I would like your opinion on the following lens:
Nikon 18-300mm
Sigma 18-300mm DC Macro OS HSM
Tamron 16-300mm VC PZD
Thank you
I don't know how to answer this one. I just spent the whole day walking around 2 different venues - I was shooting birds and wildlife and my lens choice was a Sigma 150-600 and a D810, on a Black Rapid sling strap. Walked around for 6 hours. If I were in the city doing street photography I might choose something less conspicuous.
But to get to your original question -
I think the Nikon 18-200 ls sharper than all of the above.
Maybe the Tamron might have a very slight edge over the other two.
