Selling my 2009 15" MacBook Pro with 1 GB hard drive. Track pad does not work but the wi-fi mouse works great. Missing two feet pads at bottom of laptop. Has been well loved and cared for. Comes with charger + various software such as Office for Mac. This would be a great laptop for middle/high school student, or a great place to store photos. $300 non-negotiable + actual shipping cost.

If interested, please e-mail me at leegspeed@optimum.net. Thank you. ~ Eileen M. Rowley

Trackpads are about $90 at iFixIt.
Feet are $4.00/set on eBay.

What model is it, exactly? If you go to Apple menu, About this Mac, and look at the very detailed specs, it should have a number code like 9,1 or 7,3 or something. Also, what is the A number on the case bottom? (For example A1278...)

How does a well cared laptop winds up with two feet missing?

I apologize for this rant in advance, but here goes...

A) MacBook Pros are are notebook computers. Apple has NEVER made anything they called a laptop. They don't want you to think it is safe to use a computer on your lap. Between heat and WiFi "rads to the 'nads" damaging your family jewels, AND the potential for dropping a $2500 device off your lap while the hard drive containing your priceless data is spinning, they'll tell you its a Very Bad Idea.

B) The rubber feet deteriorate just like tires and other rubber items. A 2009 MacBook Pro is four or five years past the point where rubber can be expected to break down and get brittle.

I had an Early 2008 15" MacBook Pro. I used it on a desk. When it was not on a desk, it was in a thickly padded case. In 2011, the two rear feet sheared off one day when I slid it toward me on my computer table to put it in the case...

The usual scenario for those older MacBook Pros is that they become too slow and underpowered, as software gets more and more complex and you load more and more of it. You can extend the life of an older Mac substantially by increasing RAM to maximum, replacing the small 5400 RPM internal hard drive with a large SSD or Hybrid drive, and repairing what goes bump in the night. An older machine with SSD and maximum RAM can easily outrun a newer one with standard RAM and a regular 5400 RPM disk.

Check the values of used MacBook Pros on www.macsales.com or any other used Mac site...

Well, I've had it for eight years. Two fell off. You figure it out. Snarky.

Well, Julian, as one of the other gentlemen on this forum responded, the adhesive breaks down and the feet do not adhere any longer. So, yes, this eight year old machine has been very well cared for. Just mailed it off to a gentleman in Ohio, who will appreciate the graphics, the 1 TB hard drive, the installed software and it will have a second life. Thank you for your snarky comment, you just confirm for me that we have a mixed group on here. ~ Eileen

Yes, I misspoke, the new hard drive is a 1 TB hard drive. Thank you for your snarky comments, you just confirm for me that we have a mixed group on here. ~ Eileen

Thank you, Bill. Yes, this machine still has a lot of life left, especially because of the 1 TB hard drive installed within the last year. I am happy to report it is on it's way to a gentleman in Ohio, who will appreciate the amazing graphics, it's super speed, and the installed software. According to the link you sent, $300 is a reasonable price, as well. Thank you, again. ~ Eileen

Very reasonable indeed. I bought two used MacBook Pros (mid-2012, I think) for my twins last year. They were $950 to $1000 each. Both are fine for college students. And they work perfectly.
