Just to say 'Hi'.

I will probably participate in this forum, so I just want to say 'Hi' to y'all & fill you in with a little of my situation. My first drone was the original Phantom which I bought about 5 years ago--a GoPro mounted direct to the drone, & with no gimbal. No FPV either--it was pretty crude back then & the genuine DJI gimbal was as dear as poison, so we were all buying cheap Chinese gimbals (I went through 3 of them & none of them worked properly, lol).
I then updated to a Phantom 2, again with a GoPro (with a gimbal this time). This time, I used a Black Pearl FPV & ipad . Next was a P3 Pro, which I was very happy with, but it suddenly stopped streaming the video back to my ipad (every thing else works as normal--just no video signal). It's even been back to DJI & nobody has been able to fix it.
To replace the sick P3 Pro, I was going to buy a Mavic Pro, but ended up getting a P4 Pro+ instead, mainly because of the better camera. Yes, I know the Pro+ has taken some flak, but I can't agree with the negative feedback, & have nothing but praise for it. It is a neat set up, fires up quickly, the screen is easy to see in bright sun, & there is no risk of having a flat battery in an ipad. I've had mine for 3 months now & have had no issues with it.
Since I started playing with drones, I have shot about 130 videos. I only got interested in shooting stills after I got the P4 Pro, & saw what the camera was capable of. I now shoot & edit my videos in 4K/25, & then re-sample to 1080P. I find that there is a definite difference between this & shooting in 1080P. Although both end up as 1080P, the one that was originally shot in 4K is noticeably better.
Here is a video that I shot recently....

Thanks for the history on your drone experience. I have a friend that started way back then (5 years ago LOL) too and he decided that he could and would build a better mouse (drone) trap. So he started building his own bodies and mounting motors, batteries, GPS's, cameras, etc to his home made drones and has done very well with them. He knows how to fly the difficult ATTI modes and the easy to fly GPS drones.
I am new to drones and purchased my Mavic Pro about a month ago and decided to ask admin if we could start a drone section. They said yes but they need a volunteer to keep an eye on this section so I volunteered. I'm probably not qualified to speak dronie, but I'm here to help get this section started and hopefully it does.
Very cool video. I'm working on my technique for videos and stills. I have been using my Mavic 3 or 4 times a week. I'm waiting for some cheap Chinese filters to come from mainland China so that I can try using ND and CP filters and get the shutter speed down to the 1/60th or 1/50th that is recommended for smooth cinematic looking video.
Welcome to the new Drone section on UHH. Hope to hear some more stories and more of your techniques for capturing video, stills, and flying your drone.
