Me and my brothers going to Norway next year, and I don't want to carry multiple lenses for my D500. After researching on line, I think I have it narrowed down to a Nikkor 28-300 FX, an 18-300 DX, or 18-200 DX. I would like a full frame camera to be in my future, so would really appreciate some pros or cons or advice.

The 18-300 works well with both my d500 and d7200. The FX lens would give you the the same
angle of view at 200mm as the DX lens at 300, but you may want a second for a wider angle
than the 42mm equivalent on the low end of the FX.
If you are buying a new lens for the trip, the 18-300 would be the lens to get. Plan on keeping
the D500 as a backup to the FF when you get it.

Thank you for the information JR. It would not be a problem at all to carry an extra wider angle lens in my purse or pocket. And yes, I love my 500 . I have had it about 3 months, and it will never leave my side.
Just got back from Norway. I am a Full-frame guy and I did very well with one body and 2 lenses, a 28-200mm and a 17-35mm f2.8. I just hope that you have more sunny days than I did.

If your doing a lot of walking and hiking I would take the 18-200. If your not I would take the 18-300.

Very good,
I try to avoid joining the grammar police, it would take too much time on here. As a Canadian you would notice the grammar errors which are common on this site as I do as a UK resident.
Keep posting them but keep your head down.
I just returned from 2 weeks there this past Saturday. Bring a LOT of money. Norway is breathtakingly expensive. My wife and I stopped for lunch in a small cafe our first day and had a fish sandwich and an iced tea each. Cost $60 US. A draft beer (not a pint; a glass) costs between $9 and $12. And forget about liquor. You would have to be totally drunk to afford a whisky.
And as someone above noted, rain is the expected day in day out weather, especially along the coast. In Bergen, it rains 297 days of the year. There is a saying in Norway, "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing." Bring along plastic bags into which you can throw your gear when the rain starts.
As for lenses, I do not have any of the ones you mention. I have tried the all in one superzooms and was never satisfied with the image quality, especially at the long end.
We're going back next summer for our third visit. Visited both the Bergen and Oslo areas. Next time will be in Stavanger region. Have a D7200 and based on previous experience, I'll be packing my 18-200 AND my 35 f/1.8. Majority of our shooting will be landscape and street scenes. The 35 will work well in the museums that don't allow flash.
Have fun!
Of the lenses you mentioned only the 28-300 will be ideal for a full frame camera. I have no experience with the 18-300, I use the 18-200 VR original version. The lens is very good optically and most probably will be all you need for your D500.
If 18mm (equivalent to 27mm with full frame) is not enough wide angle for your needs then you can go with a wider lens.
I do not own a D500 but I am familiar with it. Do not invest in DX lenses if you have in mind to buy a full frame camera and know beforehand that your photographs are not going to be better because you switched.
I would keep the D500 and use good glass with it.
When I need wider than 18mm (DX) I just make a panorama.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good combination of lenses. Can't do anything about the weather. That is frustrating.I would have thought weather would be great over there this time of year. We are planning to go in June, so know it will be cooler then.

Good advice. Didn't think of that.
