Just came across this strange looking duck in Central Florida. Any ideas?

I have seen same around Jupiter on the East Coast of Fla---
And they are the dirtiest of all ducks. To make matters worse they are protected.

Muscovy, they are the tamest creatures you will ever befriend. I have posted pics of two Whistlers that will come when I call. Gallo-nippers will remember you also. Got to love them! Why would anyone want to kill such a tame creature.
They are native to Central America. Most of the ones in the US are from domestic escapes or cross breeds of domestic and wild. They will also cross breed with other duck species. It produces some strange looking ducks, esp around park lakes where they often live year round if the climate allows.
In general all ducks are protected (license, hunting season etc) because they migrate and are covered by treaties with other nations.
