I have seen that Nikon has a new wide angle lens (Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR) that was supposed to be available last month. Has any seen this lens or have any information on its performance? $300 seems like a good price, if it performs well. Right now my shortest FL is an 18-55 mm zoom, and I'd like something shorter for landscapes. I would be putting this on a D5300. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
There was a recent post titled "It's Here".
I have one, but I haven't really tested it too much yet. Very small and light, surprisingly so in fact. Center and mid-range areas seem sharp, corners are noticeably softer - but for $300, it's hard to complain.
If it performs as well as the Sigma 10-20mm, it should be OK.
I've always been leery of lenses that have a plastic lens mount. Maybe it's durable enough. I don't know. Reviews I've read say that it's very sharp.

Very few reviews but looks like another winner for those that want to get into this range and who are on a budget. Plus, a Nikon lens uses Nikon developed glass unlike third party glass that buy their glass from the lowest bidder.
I have one and it works well on my D5300, You do have to update the firmware to the latest version. I just got the lens yesterday and have taken some shots on my morning run. I have no complaints about the sharpness, but as I said, I haven't taken that many shots yet. I expect to use it along with the other P lenses for a lightweight travel kit. Not so great in low light, but I have a 35 f1.8 for that.
If I am going to be doing serious photo stuff,i.e., wildlife or landscapes, I'll use my D500 or D810. This kit is for putting in the truck while I am out and about.
I do like the new DX lenses. For what I intend to use them for, they are just what I need. And they pair well with the D5300. Small, light and handy.

It's probably fine for folks who only use an ultrawide occasionally.
Maybe a more pertinent question is whether a metal bayonet mount makes a lens worth $600 to $850 more (Nikkor 10-20mm DX: $300 versus Nikkor 10-24mm DX: $900 or Nikkor 12-24mm DX: $1150)?
Consider the NEW Tamron 10-24mm it is sharp and a little brighter
